MOSCOW, Feb 3 (PRIME) -- Media reports that Russian Transport Minister Yevgeny Ditrikh allegedly said that the country could abolish a ban on flights to the resorts of Egypt until April are untrue, a ministry official told reporters on Monday.
Business daily Kommersant reported earlier that Ditrikh said that Russia could remove the prohibition on flights to the resorts of Egypt earlier than planned, until April 2020, in order to compensate for the losses due to the closure of China for tourism.
The ministry official said, “The information does not correspond to reality. The minister did not say that.”
Russia suspended flights to Egypt in 2015 after a major crash of a Russian plane over the Sinai Peninsula. Russia believed that the plane had been likely brought down by a bomb. In April 2018, the states resumed regular air service between the capitals, Moscow and Cairo.
